Our Story

Better solutions mean a company with a history and a vision for the future.

who we are.

Over the past 22 years, the Seattle/Snohomish market including the Central Washington area, has grown and contracted several times, and most notably in recent times. But through the flux, Chinook Lumber has never lost sight of who we are. We continue to be the company where people can go to get answers to any of their home improvement questions as well as the place to find everything they need to get their project built. We also remain the yard where contractors and builders are treated like family. Our desire to carry and supply only high-quality tools and materials also remains unchanged.

One key to our success has been our unwavering commitment to consistency in all aspects of our business. From the clerks and cashiers on the front line to our professional sales and service staff, our customers know they’ll be getting the very best service, each and every time. That’s why they have come to depend on Chinook Lumber for all their building needs. In addition, Chinook Lumber has knowledgeable and professional sales staff ready to help home builders whether it's on a small or large project, at all of our locations or even out at the job site. Our decades of experience have given us the tools necessary to help coordinate deliveries and job priorities, so you can accomplish your goals.

Where we came from.

Chinook Lumber first opened our doors more than two decades ago, but our beginning goes back much further than that. As a young boy - Eric Fritch, Chinook Lumber's owner - grew up immersed in the lumber industry. His father started Fritch Mill back in the ’40s, so it seemed only natural that Eric would open a lumber yard. But it didn’t start off that way at first. He attended Washington State University earning a Mechanical Engineering degree, and then headed off to Boeing for three years. After that, you might say the call of the mill was too strong or perhaps it was the sawdust in his veins, but whatever it was, Eric couldn’t ignore it any longer and headed back to Fritch Mill to open his first lumberyard.

Within a few months, Eric moved to his first stand-alone yard in Clearview. About four years later, a second store was purchased in North Bend and today there are five stores in all. Chinook Lumber has stores in Monroe, Ephrata, Quincy, North Bend and Clearview, all serving their local markets as well as the Greater Puget Sound.
